How to unlock the KASTOV-74u in MW2?
The KASTOV-74u is unlocked from the start in Modern Warfare 2, so all you need to do is unlock the Tier 4 custom loadout to start experimenting.
Until then, you can still use the pre-built KASTOV classes with one of the default loads, although this cannot be customized.

We introduced the Modern Warfare 2 KASTOV-74u loadout with the Echoline GS-X suppressor, which makes the AR’s recoil more manageable while still suppressing your firepower.
Next, we love the minimalist look of the Cronen Mini Red Sight optics, which are far more accurate than iron sights and don’t obscure much of the screen.
Since Modern Warfare 2 includes several action-packed minimaps, there isn’t always time to aim, so we improved the accuracy of hip shots with a 4MW laser box.
Finally, the FSS Sharkfin 90 finally improves overall accuracy, turning KASTOV into a laser beam at close and mid-range.
As it stands, the KASTOV-74u can only be customized in-game, not on the usual gunsmithing screens, and many accessory categories are locked.
So it’s worth remembering that options are limited when creating our loadout, but we’ll be sure to update this section once Infinity Ward opens up all attachments.

The KASTOV 74-u shines as an assault rifle, so we chose the ideal extras to complement the loadout.
For basic perks, we recommend trackers and scavengers to help you hunt down enemies that leave a trail and replenish ammo along the way.
You’re more likely to take damage when you’re close, so Quick Fix restores health immediately after each kill. Then in the Ultimate Perk slot, you’ll need to Ghost dodge enemy radars while trying to airdrop the other team.
Gear-wise, Flashbangs are great for unleashing surprise attacks on unsuspecting enemies, while Semtex can clear an entire room in seconds.
Other alternatives to the KASTOV-74u in MW2
If the KASTOV-74u can’t quite cut it, we recommend switching to the Lachman Sub, which is arguably the best melee weapon in the game right now.
But if you’re looking for something more balanced, you can’t go wrong with the M4 Assault Rifle.
