Margaritas are my favorite cocktail. My first experience was not love at first sip; that didn't happen until I ventured to craft a batch at home and it made all the difference in the world! So here are our Best Fresh Margarita Cocktails; I know you will love them too!
Margaritas seem to me to be the quintessential warm weather cocktail. It always amazes me that National Margarita Day is February 22. Whoever decided that? I mean really, who? Maybe the people who head to Mexico during blizzard weather? OK, I could get onboard with that.
Before I start that movement to get this day allocated to a summer month, I thought the least I could do was share the Best Fresh Margaritas that I love. I've shared so many so when you see my push to make it a three day holiday you will get onboard with me, right?
I seriously believe I've got almost all fruits covered...except blueberries. Why not a blueberry margarita? How can I consider this my all time list of the Best Fresh Margarita Cocktails and not include one of my favorite fruits? It might be the color; not sure about a blue margarita but still...time to get on that!
Not sure actually how that happened so I'll add that to my summer calendar, something new to look forward to...and honestly I might have to make it today. Now that it's on my mind and all. And drink it today too. 🙂

In the meantime let me share the ones I love, always starting with what I consider the The BEST Fresh Margarita. It takes a bit of time to reach that perfection as this recipe includes steeping a mixture of lemon, lime, and orange juices (yes, not JUST lime juice!) with lemon, lime, and orange zest, and sugar for a couple of hours before finishing the cocktail. Trust me, it IS worth it. Not in the mood? OK, go for the quick and dirty version, but eventually you have to try the full recipe; it is amazing!
The BEST Fresh MargaritaThis is my all time favorite of the whole list of Best Fresh Margarita Cocktails; actually this is the margarita that changed margaritas for me. I hated them before I made my own and it's as simple as one word. Reposado. Reposado is an aged tequila; and that aging makes all the difference. Not expensive, not top shelp, but the perfect cocktail mixer.
Oops make that two. Reposado and Orange Liqueur. The same holds true here; forget a cheap bottle of sugar water with artificial flavor called Triple Sec and find one that actually includes the essence of real oranges. Pricey Grand Marnier? Not necessary; I use Gran Gala Orange Liqueur from Italy. Great taste and at a very reasonable price.
I credit Cooks Illustrated Magazine for my margarita education. But that education really can hold true for every cocktail. Use good ingredients and fresh fruit and the difference will be remarkable. Don't you DARE buy that premix stuff ever again...you will not be sorry!
I was not prepared for how much we loved this drink; absolutely one of my favorite in the Best Margaritas list! It's the only one of my Best Fresh Margarita Cocktails where I'll have a caveat. I used a bottle of Prickly Pear juice...read my post for how the real deal was both a pain and did not work out!
Casamigos Tequila Margarita
Made with Casamigos Tequila which was originally devised by George Clooney and pals. But don't let that fool you...this is a truly quality product and the simplest of margaritas.
I do think I could make this list a mile long...we have even more!
