Best Day Trips in Marrakech

By Robin Salvador @vinzsalvador23

Marrakech is an incredible spot to visit. But when hustle and bustle gets too much, it's time to head out and explore the surrounding countryside. With the Atlas Mountains only an hour from Marrakech, the coast just two hours away and the edge of the desert roughly just 5 hours to go, there is so much you can do in Marrakech and you have plenty of option for your day trips. I have selected my favorite day trips from Marrakech.

1. Ourika Valley

Best Day Trips in Marrakech

At the point when the heat of Marrakech gets too much local people will in general head to the Ourika Valley where temperatures are cooler and people lunch by the river. Climb up to the Setti Fatma waterfalls to enjoy some more cooler air (young fellows may try to guide you, but just insist that you know the way) and enjoy the views and sounds of the rushing waterfalls.

2. Imlil

Situated in Toubkal National Park, this is the beginning stage for trekkers climbing Mount Toubkal. While there isn't a ton to see or do in the town itself - except for some roadside bistros and visitor shops - Imlil is an incredible spot to start a short walk up to one of the villages. Grab a local guide to not only show you the way, but to explain more about Berber culture, at that point head off to one of the numerous valleys before eating with local people.

3. Ouirgane Valley

This magnificent valley feels marginally off the tourist path with its gentle rolling hills dotted with olive trees and the adjacent Atlas Mountains overshadowing out of sight. The pace here is moderate, with Berber towns dabbing the mountainside. On Saturdays, stop at the weekly market in Asni en route, where locals gather from the surrounding villages to purchase everything from fruits and vegetables, meats, household goods, clothing and other regular stuffs.

4. Essaowuira

This whitewashed, laidback town on the Atlantic Coast is an ideal break when the pace of Marrakech gets too much. Wander through the souks and pick up some Moroccan treats. Enjoy a coffee on the famous Place Moulay Hassan or the iconic Patisserie Driss. Just walk round the shoreline as the sun sets, and eat fresh seafood sold at the bustling fish market as the numerous fishing boats return to shore.

5. Ouzoud Waterfalls

Settled in the High Atlas Mountains, Ouzoud Waterfalls never failed to impress. Begin your Stroll at the top of the waterfalls, where you can peer over the edge and view the numerous sources that make up these awesome falls. Then follow the path down for views of the powerful waterfalls until you reach the basin below, where the view is both refreshing and stunning. You can even get boat trip around the pool in order to get more close to the waterfalls.

6. Aït Benhaddou

Situated on the edge of the Sahara Desert, Aït Benhaddou is a braced kasbah made popular as it gave the set to blockbusters including Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia and some more. Cross the river to wander through the village, where local people are gradually beginning to come back to their mud-block homes. Don't forget to stop and enjoy the stunning views of the palm groves and sandcastle-like kasbahs as you climb to the top.

7. Agafay Desert

Known as a stone desert, geologically speaking the Agafay Desert and it is just 40 minutes away from the Marrakech and should not be missed. With nothing to see but stones for miles, but suddenly the view changes to include valleys and oases, palm trees and the High Atlas Mountains the background. A day trip here is perfect for those who are very busy and do not have time to head to Sahara desert.

Other than being increasingly advantageous, I highly recommend taking the time to book your day tours in advanced. You will find everything pretty smooth in Morocco but Marrakech can sometimes is a bit hectic for some people and administrators in person might be somewhat pushy.

If you want to avoid this, then book online, get picked up from your hotel, and never have to step foot in a tour agency once you get there. Just visit www. Marrakech travel trips.com and they will take care of you.

I hope this was helpful for anyone wondering what trips from Marrakech they can do! Of course, there's plenty of other places also which you can explore once you get there, but something is better than nothing right! This list should keep you pretty busy. Also, there are other places where you can plan a trip for more than a day. Like Marrakech to Fes desert tour for 3 days. Marrakech and Fes are the major cities of Morocco which in my opinion you should not miss. Combining the Sahara desert with Fes and Marrakech will make your Morocco desert visit as rich as it tends to be.
