If you are looking to build a budget gaming PC under 40000 in 2020, I got you covered with the best parts you can use.
In the true Indian budget gamer fashion, choosing the right components for the price you pay can be a bit tricky. But, cutting corners wherever possible and not skimping on important parts can give you a pretty decent build on budget.
Let’s dive into my parts list for the best budget gaming PC under 40000 that you should build.

- Case: Antec NX230 (₹2600)
- Summary: Best Budget Gaming PC Under 40000
Processor: Ryzen 3 3100 (₹8688)
Even though a cheaper alternative like Intel Core i3 9100F outperforms the Ryzen 3 3100 in gaming, I still would recommend the AMD processor. The main reason, is the upgradability of components on the AMD platform, among others.
The Ryzen 3 3100 is a quad-core beast, and is the most suitable processor for a budget gaming PC under 40000 INR. It sports base clock of 3.6 GHz and boosts up to 3.9 GHz. Hyper-threading and unlocked multiplier are pretty welcome at this price point.
But I doubt doing a manual all-core overclock would yield worse performance than the factory settings.
The Wraith Stealth stock cooler that comes in the box is good enough considering the 65W TDP of Ryzen 3 3100.
Even though it lacks the closely coupled single CCX architecture like the 3300X, it still does its job pretty well. You can check the detailed difference between Ryzen 3 3100 and 3300X in this article: Ryzen 3 3100, 3300X Price, Release Date | Budget Gamers Rejoice!
Graphics Card: Gigabyte GTX 1650 Super OC 4GB (₹13409)
If I have to be honest, this was the toughest choice in this parts list. But isn’t it always?
The GTX 1660 Super costs a bit more but does not give enough performance difference over the GTX 1650 Super. And if you are building the best budget gaming PC under 40000, I think the GTX 1650 is the better choice here.
At the time of writing, the Gigabyte GTX 1650 Super OC 4GB was the cheapest of the lot. As the 1650 does not consume much power anyways, cooler design does not make too much difference here. Hence, unlike for higher-end graphic cards, you can get away with the cheapest card that is available.
As an added bonus, the single-fan Gigabyte GTX 1650 Super is only 170mm in length. Meaning, you can use it in very compact builds as well.

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 8GB 3000MHz (₹3750)
It’s a well-known fact that Ryzen 3rd gen processors benefit a lot from faster memory. Part of the reason is the ‘infinity fabric’ between CCXs and I/O chiplet.
I went with the G.Skill Ripjaws V 8GB 3000MHz single stick as the memory configuration for the budget gaming pc under 40000 config. This would enable you to add an extra matching stick in the future if you need more memory.
Due to COVID 19 pandemic, we have seen RAM prices go higher than usual. This would affect all SSD prices too.
But, as slower RAM sticks aren’t much cheaper than the G.Skill Ripjaws V 8GB 3000MHz stick that I prefer, I think it is a great value for the Ryzen 3 3100.
Motherboard: MSI B450M-A PRO MAX (₹6300)
For the motherboard, I went with the cheapest available motherboard with the AMD B450 chipset. Not only this ensures great compatibility with features provided by the Ryzen 3rd gen CPUs, but also enables you to put better CPUs in down the line.
The MSI B450M-A PRO MAX is nothing fancy. Feature set is not great by any means. It features one PCIe Gen 3.0 x16 slot, and a single PCIe 2.0 x1 slot. Two slots of DDR4 RAM up to 4133MHz will enable you to upgrade your RAM if you deem it necessary,
The m.2 slot can be used to slot in NVME SSD with x4 interface, or any m.2 SATA SSD too. The motherboard also has 4 SATA rev 3.0 ports for storage devices. The rear I/O has 4 USB 3.2 gen ports along with ability to add two more through internal header. Same is true for 2+2 USB 2.0 ports.
Storage: Adata 120GB SSD (₹2200) + Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD (₹3000)
If you are thinking you can get away with using a hard drive for your boot drive in 2020, you are absolutely wrong. This is the reason why I have included the mere 120GB SSD along with 1TB of mechanical storage.
If your budget permits, you can increase the storage space on the SSD, or go with more reputable brands like Crucial, Corsair or Samsung.
For storing games, Seagate or WD Blue should be a pretty good choice for a budget gaming pc under 40000.
Even though there aren’t significant advantages over hard disk for using SSD as game drive, this might change in the near future. Learn how.
Power Supply: Corsair VS450 (₹2600)
The easiest mistake you can make is choosing a very cheap power supply on a budget gaming build. Believe me, I have been there.
The lowest you can go for any gaming build for a power supply would be Corsair VS450.
It’s been tried and proved to be a reliable 450W power supply for budget gaming computers.
The 450W unit has 80+ White efficiency certification. It is by far not the best PSU you can have, but any cheaper alternative that does not have any efficiency rating or reputable manufacturer should be strictly avoided.
Case: Antec NX230 (₹2600)
Antec recently launched another great budget gaming cabinet, the Antec NX230. It should be priced around ₹2600.
With mesh front and transparent side panel, this computer case ticks all the right boxes for a budget build. There isn’t much room for cable management or extra fans. But, as you are building a budget gaming PC under 40000, I highly doubt any of these things would be on your priority list.
Some of the specifications of the Antec NX230 include:
- Form Factor: Mid Tower
- Motherboard Support: mATX, ATX and Mini-ITX
- Front Controls: ARGB Control Button, Power, Reset, HD MIC/Audio, USB3.0, USB2.0 x 2.
- Expansion slots: 7
- 3.5″ / 2.5″ Convertible Drive Bays: 2/1
- 2.5″ Drive Bay: 2
- Comes with top and PSU Intake dust filters.
- Included ARGB strip in front with mode change button.
- 1 Year manufacturer warranty.
