Time for a little eye candy! One of my favorite all-time beaches is Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, near Big Sur, California. I've been there at sunset, as well in the middle of a summer afternoon.
Any time of day is mystical.
The waterfall only runs during or after the rainy season (Mid-November to Mid-May, if you're lucky to be there.
It is worth the drive down 101 (between San Francisco and Los Angeles). Stop for a bite at Nepenthe Restaurant -- if not for the food, for the views.
