Bell P-63A Kingcobra

@ Riverside, CA

April 2023

An image of “Pretty Polly” from my visit to the 2023 SoCal Air Show at March ARB.  The successor to the P-39 Airacobra, deliveries of the Kingcobra began in October of 1943 and the USAAF determined that the P-63A was not comparable enough with the P-51 Mustang to put into combat. This rare warbird is owned by the Palm Springs Air Museum (PSAM) and is one of six airworthy examples remaining.  Pretty Polly has also raced at Reno in the Unlimited class. This warbird, “Pretty Polly”, is named after the daughter of Bob Pond (PSAM founder).
