An image from my first trip to the Planes of Fame airshow this past May.  The successor to the P-39 Airacobra, deliveries began in October of 1943 and the USAAF determined that the P-63A was not comparable enough with the P-51 Mustang to put into combat.  This rare warbird is owned by the Palm Springs Air Museum and is one of six airworthy examples remaining.
