Beginning the Foreground on New Abstract Painting

By Abstractartbylt @artbylt

After carefully painting a background on this new abstract painting, today I began the foreground.  Using the same colors--Indian yellow, raw sienna, burnt sienna, and raw umber, I drew lots of details in fine lines.

What I am doing is playing against the circle shapes already painted in the background on this canvas.  In the lines I draw, I both accentuate the circles by adding more circles, and work against that shape with lines and angles drawn across and through the circles.

Some of the lines are random squiggles, some are carefully drawn shapes, some are repeating patterns to add texture.  I started with the Indian yellow in the center, but expanded it outward as well.  I did the same for each of the other colors.

Now I have a structure to play with some more in the next painting session.
