Thanks to a healthy dose of beautiful weather on Thanksgiving Day, I was able to enjoy this bottle of Victory Prima Pils while chatting with my Father In Law on his backyard deck.
Here is what our friends at Victory Brewing have to say about their Prima Pils:
Heaps of hops give this pale lager a bracing, herbal bite over layers of soft and smooth malt flavor. This refreshing combination of tastes makes Prima a classy quencher in the tradition of the great pilsners of Europe.
And now for my review…
- Appearance: Crystal clear, golden yellow color with lots of translucent, fast rising bubbles. Little to no head, which probably has more to do with the choice of glassware than with the actual beer. There were no Pilsner glasses to be found. Sorry.
- Aroma: Lemon zest. Mild citrus hops. Biscuity malt.
- Taste: Medium carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel. Some sweet malt to start things off. Citrus kicks in at mid-palate, followed immediately by some mild hop bitterness. Pleasant bitter finish.
- ABV: 5.3%
This is not the first time that I’ve had the Victory Prima Pils, and it certainly won’t be my last. Smooth, refreshing, well balanced, thirst quenching, and highly session worthy are just a few of the ways to describe this delicious beer (selling it in cans would make this a serious Ultimate Summer Beer contender). Although I enjoy drinking this beer on it’s own, I would love to pair it up with those Brauhaus Schmitz Bavarian Soft Pretzels and a plate of Weiss Wurst (with a side of Potato Salad and Sauerkraut please!). Victory’s Prima Pils lives up to its sterling reputation.
