The other day, while reaching for a beer, I found a can of Molson Ice lodged in the back of the beer fridge. As I was diving headfirst into a cheesesteak and looking for just one beer, I figured what the heck and popped open the can. Molson Ice had been a favorite in my not-to-misspent youth as Molson, Moosehead and Labatt’s were exotic foregin beers all the way from Canadia. Even now, I keep a can or two on hand as it tends to satisfy some of my family who are not into crafty but like a refreshing, lawnmower beer. For those who may not know, Molson Ice is produced by Molson-Coors Canada Inc. This is the Canadian division of the world’s fifth-largest brewing company, the Molson Coors Brewing Company. Molson was founded in 1786 and beer is produced to this day on the site of the company’s first brewery in Montreal.

- Appearance: Clear, golden amber with nice foam and lacing.
- Aroma: Sweet malt, maybe a little corn and a hint of hops.
- Taste: A light on the carbonation, sweet, refreshing with a slightly dry, hoppy finish.
- ABV: 5.6%
Molson Ice was as good as I remembered. For a mass produced beer, it didn’t have that watered down flavor of an American beer. Is it crafty? No. Is it especially interesting or flavorful? No. Was it refreshing and a good complement to my cheesesteak? Absolutely!
