When visiting Alaska, there is never a shortage of floatplanes to see. Case in point, here is a Twin Beech on floats displayed at the Alaska Aviation Museum. This aircraft was delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force in 1944 as an C-45 Expeditor operating as a utility aircraft. After the war, N1047B was operated by Ward Air Service in Juneau. 1962 the floats were added and the aircraft re-registered as a Model 18S. It looks much as it would have in 1946, wearing the colors of the 10th Search & Rescue Squadron that operated out of Elmendorf AFB. This aircraft was acquired by the Museum in September 1987 and is awaiting funds for restoration.
