BeBe Winans was on the Tavis Smiley show last night, where the gospel singer discussed his musical ‘Born For This’, being criticized for stepping over the line with his music, and his passion for song writing.
BeBe shared with Tavis Smiley how when he and sister, CeCe Winans started singing, folks criticized their music and felt the brother/sister gospel duo didn’t love God.
From the beginning, CeCe and I crossed the lines, not that we planned to cross, but we crossed, and we got talked about, BeBe revealed to Smiley.
He continued,
We were told that we didn’t love God, because our music sounded different from other traditional songs.
BeBe also shared with Tavis, the story behind the song ‘My Seventh Song’ which is on his upcoming album, Born For This. BeBe shared with Tavis that Momma Winans is singing the song to him, because he get’s lost some time. Being transparent, BeBe says that “sometimes he find success leading him in a way that wasn’t good all the time.” My Seventh Son is his mother asking God to help him, and to give him what he needs.”
