Beautiful Thing of the Day: Jack Spade + Barbour (or) A Happy Marriage
By Thewilderthings @TheWilderThingsCould it be? Jack Spade and Barbour have teamed up!? I could die and go to sartorial heaven. Not only are these two of my all time favorite brands, but judging from these photos, they're almost even better together. Have you ever been to a wedding where you just know it's a bad idea for the two parties to be cutting the cake? Well I feel exactly the opposite about the nuptials of Jack and Barb (more after the jump).
Why am I such a fan? Because the collaboration incorporates the best of both design houses; it keeps Barbour's classic materials and lines while infusing them with a bit of Jack Spade pop (read: the orange above) and an American streamlined aesthetic for which Spade bags are known.
The trench (below) is a perfect example of why the collab works: it keeps the corduroy of the classic Barbor, keeps the military green and waxed cotton (which Jack Spade also uses regularly) and then, in the spirit of Jack, makes the shape a bit boxier, pares down the pockets, and adds a killer belt. Et voila.
I hope the Spade-Barbours stay together forever and make tons of little bags and jackets. Can't you just see them running around in the front yard? And in the Spade-Barbour's old age, when they're a little tattered and a little thread-bare, I hope they hang in a closet together and get frequent visits from the grand-bags.
Now that I've gotten all nostalgic over my own analogy, more stuff to look at:
