Beautiful Autumn Styled Shoot in Italy

By Eleni Balkouli @Love4Wed

Today’s styled shoot will mesmerize you with its unique contrasts! Fresh flowers combined with dry ones in a fairytale scenery while a female figure portraits a fragile soul, wearing her boho chic wedding dress. We loved the idea of a “scar” on the wall, with flowers blooming from it. A menu printed on linen on which the first petals of the floral compositions begin to fall, an impressive cake that literally breaks showing a heart and other unique details completed this wonderful styled shoot in the most beautiful way making this scenery even dreamier. See every beautiful detail through the following photos and feel absolutely transported to this wonderful scenery full of hidden meanings!

Il Todisco shared with us: “A style shoot project based on a precise concept: the idea of scouting an aesthetic horizon characterized by contrasts-fullness and emptiness, weight and lightness, strength and fragility. I have decided to express the concept via a style which might not be described as univocal: elegant, at times romantic declined in a fanè mood (nearly decadent). I have been guided also by the Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi, putting caducity and absence at the core. The contrasts develop, for instance, in the floral setting: displaying fresh flowers (celosia flowers, roses, dalie, lisianthus e and carnations) and dry ones (prothea, poppy, badam nut, leaves of beech tree); in the charisma of the model face showing some harshness, yet showing a fragile soul when wearing the dress; in the suspended waiting inside the castle. I’ve looked for the contrast between full and empty in a “scar” on the wall, which will see flowers blooming from it and secondly, in the mise en place of a rich floral decoration displayed, though, on a long and narrow area, connected to the other elements knowingly left soberer.”

“I was very much interested also into exploring the concept of texture and materials, for example in the plates I’ve used, or in the stationery where we have worked both on the clichè print technique and on “dirtying”made of coffee and strut, which allowed the creation of interesting textures. Waiting and time suspension are the main narrative dimension that drives the shoot to a dreamlike territory where the unfolding of time is no longer diachronic. The wait is underlined by some details: a menu printed on linen on which the first petals of the floral compositions begin to fall, the cake that literally breaks showing a heart, a texturized soul, and obviously through the portraits of the model. I thought of “Anima” as the title of shoot because I liked the idea of revealing the soul, the heart of things.”
