Beach Bunny – ‘Dream Boy’

Chicago-based four-piece Beach Bunny have announced they have signed to Mom+Pop Records and shared new single ‘Dream Boy’ ahead of the release of debut album ‘Honeymoon’ on Valentine’s Day next year (pre-order here).

Fitting somewhere between Bleached, Modern Baseball and Dude York, the song has already been a huge success on streaming services with over 67 million plays so far and the accompanying video combines the classic coming-of-age films by John Hughes with elements from the current crop of film-makers including Olivia Wilde’s Booksmart, Bo Burnham’s Eighth Grade and Greta Gerwig’s Ladybird.

According to singer Lili Trifilio, the emo-tinged track is ‘inspired by summer love – it is a song about being jaded to the idea of falling for someone again after being heartbroken in the past’ and how the future can always be brighter: ‘If you’re gonna love me, make sure that you do it right, I’ll be under your window in the moonlight’.
