Happy first day of March! I had hoped to end February with at least one more book review, but it turns out February was crazy busy with birthdays and kid checkups and all the fun mom stuff, so instead I’ll open March up with a super fun new thing: the BBRBF Book Club! (That name is totally not set in stone, but I thought it was appropriate – and if you were wondering, reference this post for what that acronym means. 😉 ) Sara Lily and I are starting a book club of sorts, wherein we will be reading the same book each month and posting our reviews on the same day. And you are all invited to join us!
This month, we are reading The Royal We ($17.68 for the hardcover on Amazon), a book written by two of my favorite bloggers, the authors of Go Fug Yourself (I know, the blog title is iffy, but seriously. They crack me up so much! If you’re a fan of celebrity fashion and lots of wit, go read right now).
To get you interested, here’s the synopsis of the book (via goodreads)
“American Rebecca Porter was never one for fairy tales. Her twin sister, Lacey, has always been the romantic who fantasized about glamour and royalty, fame and fortune. Yet it’s Bex who seeks adventure at Oxford and finds herself living down the hall from Prince Nicholas, Great Britain’s future king. And when Bex can’t resist falling for Nick, the person behind the prince, it propels her into a world she did not expect to inhabit, under a spotlight she is not prepared to face.
Dating Nick immerses Bex in ritzy society, dazzling ski trips, and dinners at Kensington Palace with him and his charming, troublesome brother, Freddie. But the relationship also comes with unimaginable baggage: hysterical tabloids, Nick’s sparkling and far more suitable ex-girlfriends, and a royal family whose private life is much thornier and more tragic than anyone on the outside knows. The pressures are almost too much to bear, as Bex struggles to reconcile the man she loves with the monarch he’s fated to become.
Which is how she gets into trouble.
Now, on the eve of the wedding of the century, Bex is faced with whether everything she’s sacrificed for love-her career, her home, her family, maybe even herself-will have been for nothing.”
So have at it! Grab a copy of The Royal We
however you can (I think the paperback is coming out soon!), and get your reading on. Sara and I will be posting our reviews on the 22nd of this month, but you can post whenever you’ve finished! And, let us know if you’re reading along via Twitter (me @eccentricowl, Sara @SaraLilyFortin), Instagram (me @eccentricowlblog, Sara @inanutshellblog) or a blog comment.
Happy reading!
