Batik Indigo Mudcloth DIY

By Francoisetmoi

Handmade indigo textiles for home interiors are trending at the moment, but they've always been a favorite of mine, and I'll probably continue loving them long after their time in the spotlight. There's just something about that rich blue that I can't get enough of!

I recently created a batik tutorial for We Make Collective on how to use the batik resist dye process to mimic the look of indigo mudcloth on lightweight cotton. The result is gorgeous patterned indigo fabric perfect for wall hangings, bedscarves, and pillows.

If you're a We Make Collective member, head over to check out the batik tutorial + tons of resources for indigo and other naturally derived dyes. If you're not a member, I'm hoping to share additional indigo dyeing projects and tips right here on Francois et Moi very soon, so stay tuned!

In the meantime, if you want to get started right away, check out my Indigo Tea Towel project. It was one of the first DIY's I wrote about on F&M and it's still one of my favorites! Notice they're hanging in the background of my new sidebar photo? I use them ALL the time!
