Bathroom Organization for Under $10

By Courtneysims @courtneynora

I gave myself a goal in April to finally get some sense of bathroom organization in our master bathroom. One of my friends (nicely) teased me that I gave myself an entire month to do something that could be done in an afternoon, but the truth is that I’ve been meaning to do this since I was pregnant (yes, my baby is 8 months old.) So, I decided that April was the month I had to carve out time to do this!

I’m hoping that some bathroom organization will motivate me to have a more consistent getting ready routine during this stay at home order. I work from home normally, but I would always get myself ready to take Willa to daycare and for any work meetings since I’d be on webcam. As we’ve kept Willa home for the past month, my morning routine has gone out the window and I’ve been skipping the hair and makeup routine and barely getting out of my pajamas. I have not felt like myself in weeks. So I wanted to take some advice from my friend Andrea from Blonde Bedhead and get back to my morning routine and a sense of normal.

Getting Organized

My plan was to first get rid of anything I haven’t used in the past two months. I chose two months because the past month I haven’t used ANYTHING, so I tried to think about my old routine instead of current. Then to organize the stuff I decided to keep.

Back in February, I took a solo trip to Target to get out of the house (oh, how I miss those days) and found these little stacking organizers for $1 – $2 each! I wanted to clean out two makeup bags and my vanity drawer. I thought that having little organizers would help stop me from throwing things in the drawer without putting them into their actual place.

Here’s the before of the drawer. I was constantly digging to find anything I needed.

This is my makeup bag before. Much of my mornings were spent digging for the 5 things I use.

I keep my current makeup bag down in the cabinet below the sink and I wanted to get all my makeup into the drawer so that it was easy to grab and use. This cabinet also needed a good purge-and-clean.

I got down to cleaning and purging. These didn’t make the cut.

Bathroom Organization Complete

Once I purged the junk. It was pretty easy to get everything put back together using the organizing bins. I organized everything by skincare, makeup I use more often in the front, and then makeup I use less in the back.

Here is the organized cabinet. I already had one of these sliding drawer organizers where I keep my lipsticks and a few makeup brushes, so I really just had to throw away unused stuff and re-organize all the products.

This is the first cleaning project I’ve been able to do during this stay at home order and it felt SO good. I keep going into my bathroom to peek at all my organized goodies and getting excited for Monday’s morning routine.
