Barbeque Nation – The Unlimited Buffet

By Rohit Dassani

Barbeque Nation recently opened its door to a brand new outlet at Gopalan Innovation Mall, Bannerghatta Road. The outlet is more spacier and rustic, bringing together the whole BN buffet experience. The use of orange and black colors is prominent everywhere. Barbeque Nation is known for its on-table grill experience and this outlet will takes you to a whole new world. The kitchen is open and you can see all the action as it happens. There are many live counters to make food even more interactive.

At Barbeque Nation everything revolves around the on-grill skewers. We tried couple of them like the barbecued mushrooms, corn on the cob, pineapple and guava, paneer tikka, stuffed mushrooms, even fried rosagulla. Our favorite was the grilled mushrooms which have a smoky flavor. The Paneer was super soft and the marination on the tikka was super spicy. You can get unlimited supplies of these skewers. These are best tried with the mocktails which comes complimentary with the buffet. We tried their Virgin Mojito and the Masala Cola. The Virgin Mojito was superb and the Masala cola was amazing.

Along with the on-grill skewers you also get a wide variety of appetizers like the Cajun Spiced Potatoes, Crispy Corn, Potato fingers, Paneer Papad, Pav Bhaji and so on. The Cajun Spiced Potatoes are one of the best around. Loved the Crispy Corn as well which had chat-pata flavors and crunchy textures. The Paneer Papad were layered sandwich of paneer along with spinach. The outlet layers were crispy and crunchy along with being spicy.

Some of the live counters at Barbeque Nation are chaats, tawa grilled, Pasta and tawa fried rice or noodles. We tried the Papdi chaat which was perfect in sweet and savory flavors. The papdi was fresh as it had a lot of crunch. The Pani Puri comes with two flavored waters, the taste was good. We even tried the tawa grilled vegetables which are tossed with a unique gravy. The White pasta was delicious packed with creamy cheesy goodness. It had broccoli, corn and onions tossed in with penne and fusilli pasta. We also made a tawa fried rice with curry sauce.

We were so full by now that we could only taste couple of items from an array of main course dishes. We tried their Methi Chaman Pulao, Veg Biryani, Banana kofta curry, dal makhani, dal palak, and so on. The Methi Chaman Pulao was unique in taste. The Dal’s were flavorful here and can be tried both with the rice or breads. The main course also includes a variety of Indian and continental salads.

The desserts counter is divided into two parts – one cold and the other hot desserts. We tried the Oreo and Pan Kulfi, both were delicious and cannot be missed. The cold desserts include Indian sweets, pastries, cut fruits and so on. The hot desserts includes Jalebi, Malpua, Gulab Jamun, Halwa among others. You can pick and choose your favorite and mix them with other desserts.

Overall, the buffet at Barbeque Nation is a treat that cannot be missed.
