One of the most gratifying things of giving my tours is the interesting and diverse people that I meet from all over the world. Barbara Flowers is a painter living in Florida and travels frequently to Paris for inspiration for her paintings. She and her mother did a full day tour earlier this year and one of the things she requested for the tour was to show her picturesque backgrounds to photograph so she may later use them as inspiration for her paintings. I told Barbara I would be very interested in seeing the end product and that I would post photos of the paintings. Barbara emailed me the other day with photos of her beautiful finished works to be presented in a gallery show later this month. It’s a solo show with 25 new paintings starting October 17 at the Ann Irwin Fine Art Gallery in Atlanta.
Barbara grew up and spent most of her life in a small village near the Rhine River in Germany. Although she wanted to create art at an early age, she was educated in languages and parlayed her strong skills in to a successful career as a foreign language correspondent. As successful as she was as a correspondent, her passion for painting was too strong to ignore, so she decided to paint full time and has never looked back. Today her paintings are recognized and collected internationally in private and corporate collections and is represented by Anne Irwin Fine Art in Atlanta, Jules Place in Boston and Art Access Gallery in Columbus, Ohio. Awards and honors include Signature Member, American Impressionist Society, President’s Choice Award - American Impressionist Society - 9th Annual National Juried Exhibition, and Award of Excellence - Oil Painters of America Eastern Regional. Barbara has had solo shows at Corse Gallery & Atelier, Watts Fine Art, Tyler White Gallery, and Beverly McNeil Gallery.
If you live in Atlanta please attend her show.
