Plot: The Richardson family celebrates their 28-year-old daughter’s pregnancy in Northern California. The celebration is interrupted when a Satanic cult member, Aksel Brandr, pays them an unexpected visit. Aksel, on behalf of the cult’s leader Henrik Brandr, offers to pay the family a large sum for ownership of their land. Jacob Richardson, the father, rejects the offer due to the priceless sentimental value of their home. Henrik and his cult, displeased, begin to put devastating curses on the Richardsons, trying to force them off their land – even if it means murdering them. After suffering unexplainable tragedies, the Richardsons seek help from Marybeth, a white witch high priestess. They soon discover a terrible secret about their home, revealing why it is so valuable to the cult. They realize they must protect their property from the cult at all costs, and a violent battle between good and evil ensues.

Story: Baphomet starts when Jacob Richardson (Ward) and his family, wife Elena (Opdyke) and expecting daughter Rebecca (Weaver) get a visit from Aksel Brandr (Brodie) offering to buy his home. After rejecting the offer, the family starts to go through a string of tragedies, leaving just Jacob and Rebecca alive, with Rebecca getting horrific visions of Henrik Brandr (Radice) and his demonic cult.
Looking to defend themselves, Rebecca turns to a witch Marybeth (Bjornbak) to stop the horrors coming, as they will need to prepare for the battle to protect themselves from an evil they can’t prepare for.
Thoughts on Baphomet
Thoughts – Baphomet is a demonic cult-based horror movie that will show us a family needing to fight back against a cult to stop an evil being released upon them and the world. This gives us a nice home environment, showing how close a family are, along with showing us the twisted ideas the cult wants to believe in, only we don’t get the full investment in what we are seeing, because the film doesn’t give us enough time with the characters, even though they offer up everything to do so. When it comes to the battle between the two sides, this is everything you would like to see, where the unknown will be happening next. While everything in this film is ready for something special, it does feel like parts of it are rushed when they don’t need to be, making the film become shorter than it needs to be.
Final Thoughts – Baphomet is a horror film with all the potential to be great, only to get caught up in rushing through the development sequences.
