According to a Washington Post Report, President Trump's advisers engaged in a heated debate in the Oval Office late last week during discussions over the TikTok ban. Peter Navarro, (trade advisor) accused Steven Mnuchin (Secretary of the Treasury) of being kind to China. Navarro was pushing for an immediate ban on TikTok while Mnuchin argued for a sale of TikTok to an American company.
Now a NPR source revealed that TikTok could effectively take legal action against the Trump administration by August 11. The lawsuit will argue that the decree is unconstitutional because it violates TikTok's right to submit to due process.

Chances are TikTok will win this lawsuit because Trump has used international emergency economic powers law to help justify the order on security grounds. However, this law does not allow bans based on personal communication and media sharing - which is both the main agenda behind the TikTok ban.
