Bambino Merino Toddler Sleeping Bag

By Evette Garside @evette77

Izebella has been testing out her big new sleeping bag from Bambino Merino.

The sleeping bags are designed for curious tots ages 2-4 years. They come in a choice of 5 colours and made from all natural fibres featuring a soft 100% merino lining and a striped cotton outer.
I chose the Petal design and it arrived it’s it own matching carry bag. Great for storing the sleeping bag and taking away.

This is the first photograph of the sleeping bag prior to using it.

As you can see I had to fold the sleeping bag up to get a photograph. It is very generously sized at a whopping 116cm.

My first thoughts on the sleeping bag were that is was very big but at the same time quite light compared to some of the bulkier one out there.
There is one long zip which zips all the way up. No poppers to pull apart, the arm bit simply slips over.

I was a little sceptical about how Izebella would be using a sleeping bag. When she was younger (now 2) I tried various types of baby sleeping bags and she hated them all. She seems to like her feet being free. However it seems my worries were for nothing because it’s the total opposite.

She loves her new sleeping bag. Not just for bed time either. She will happily sit in her sleeping bag both mornings and evenings and sometimes even asks for it during the day. It has in many ways turned into a comfort blanket type thing for her, it’s actually quite difficult to part her from it.

You should beable to see from the photographs just how much room Izebella has to move her feet about inside it. It’s very easy to slip on and does not restrict her movement. If she did want it off (unlikely) she would tell me but she loves the thing.

It certainly keeps her lovely and warm which is just what we need with the guaranteed approaching cold weather. The sleeping bag is designed to be worn in all seasons and there are guides on the bag tag advising of suitable clothing layers per season. It is suitable for room temperatures 17-30 C. No extra blankets are needed when sleeping in this unless of course the room temperature was especially cold. It Creates a microclimate around your child to keep him/her warm and comfortable throughout the night without the risk of overheating.

Izebella seems to have fallen in love with her cozy sleeping bag. As she likes having it on a lot it does mean it will get messy. The washing guidelines recommend washing at 30C and no higher. It is made of Merino wool so care needs to be taken to avoid any damage. It then can be dried on a rack on bannister not tumble dried.

Also when Izebella is not in the bag I can air it out over her cot to reduce the need for washing.

These Merino sleeping bags cost £69.95 each or buy 2 for £125.
Now I know this seems a lot of money to pay for what is essentially one item of bedding. It does last for 2 years, possibly a lot longer depending on size of child and it can be used all year round without the need for extra blankets. My little princess loves her and previously hated sleeping bags. She asks for it at random times of the day. I would recommend this toddler sleeping bags for all mums with 2 year olds. It’s especially ideal as Izebella can put it on downstairs before bed and I can carry her up in it. Then bring her down in mornings and she will stay warm and snug.
