Story: Balota starts when a town holds a ballot for the next mayor. However, the candidates don’t want to play fair and only one person holds the true results. Popular teacher Emmy (Rivera) escapes capture with the results and must use her survival skills to avoid capture.
Meanwhile, the criminal side to the election sees them target her family. It leaves her to decide what she thinks is most important, the democratic process or her loved ones.

The movie follows a town dealing with a corrupt mayor campaign. It sees the locals wanting a change and leading to them voting for it. However, the outgoing mayor will do anything to stop the change and one teacher risks everything to make the change happen.
Best Parts
The best part comes from knowing how the town would come together for a change. It uses the fear to drive the story forward too, which shows how people can become controlled by governments. We get great performances throughout the movie too. There are intense moments as Emmy tries to hold her ground.
Worst Parts
The system is scary to watch and is always something yo udont want to see in the world.
