Story: Badland Hunters starts as Seoul suffers a devastating earthquake turning the area into an apocalyptic wasteland. Nam-San (Dong-Seok) and Ji-Wan (Jung-Young) hunt the area to feed a small community known as the bus district. However, they face threats from outsiders who promise better lives for their friend Su-Na (Jeong-Eui).

When Su-Na gets offered a new life in safety, Nam-Sam and Ji-Wan learn the truth. They must travel across the wasteland to save her and the other victims from the real danger they face. However, this isn’t going to be the easiest fight they have faced and the wasteland has created the worst in people.

Verdict on Badland Hunters

Badland Hunters is an action horror movie following a group of survivors in a wasteland needing to fight back against a killer threat. It follows a small group travel across the wasteland to save one of their own, only to learn of a much more disturbing series of events occurring.

This feels like a blend of The Last of Us and The Raid with how it all unfolds. The world created shows the desperation to live and the violence that erupts. By mixing a few of the more popular concepts in wasteland movies with a more modern action movie, we get a chaotic experience.

Ma Dong-Seok is the badass we have gotten to know over the last few years and is the highlight of the movie. From the moment he walks onto the screen and fights a crocodile, we know he is going steal every scene in the movie. There are some exceptional special effects uses for the added gore effects. It is brutal and gnarly which makes it an excellent watch.
