It’s almost time for back to school here in South Florida and I have been slowly getting ready. I have always looked forward to back to school. My favorite part has and always will be shopping for school supplies. I actually shop for school supplies all year long, especially clearance sections. This is an easy way for me to help out my child’s classroom. As a PTA mom, I have insider access to all the classrooms at the school and the one thing I have noticed is that teachers are constantly short on supplies. The school district doesn’t provide much and sometimes students just need a little extra. Every year, I purchase the items required on the supply list but I always take in an “Extras” basket on the first day.
This basket is something I work on year-round. Like I mentioned before, I am always checking out sale and clearance sections for items that I know my teachers need and usually have to purchase on their own. Items like: extra supplies, envelopes, classroom decorations, file folders and paper, always need paper! I gather all sorts of items and then put them all together in a basket. It’s super easy!I like to add a printable to the front of my basket, just for fun. Here is one I whipped up in less than 10 minutes and just added it to the front of my basket!
To print: Just right-click the image above, save to your computer and then send to print. It’s about a 4 x 6 size image!This year, I will be gifting my items in a cubby because I know my child’s teacher has these cubbies in her room. If not, I always gift my items in a plastic storage container. The teachers in our school use these for filing and storage and I know it’s something they can use. After I print and cut out my printable, I attach it to the front of the basket with double-sided tape. 
Then I just add the items in by weight and size, usually the heavy stuff like copy paper on the bottom. One thing my basket will always have in it are anti-bacterial products like Wet Ones® Hand Wipes. Teaching is a difficult job and lacking supplies can make it even harder. Taking the time to put together a basket of items that they didn’t ask for but that you know they use is a great way to help!
