By Harshil Barot @Harshil_Barot

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is just one more service that Amazon.com provides to its users. It comes in a variety of service levels and costs, starting with a beginning level that has a pay-as-you-go billing system, then moving up to individual at around $29.00 a month.

Costs then increase for business or enterprise accounts but may vary by the services actually requested. Many of the services are free, and you can learn a great deal about AWS and how it works just by signing up for the trial first year.

1] Wizards to Help You

On the homepage of a new trial account you will immediately see six handy wizards listed under "Build a Solution."

These include Launch a virtual machine, build a web app, build using virtual servers, connect to an IoT device, start a development Project, and register a domain.

2] Focus your Efforts

If you are immediately out of your depth just looking at the names, stop a minute and ask yourself two questions, "What does my business normally do?" and "What would I like for my business to do?"

The answers to these two questions could be very similar, but there's a good chance that they are going to be somewhat or even very different. For example, let's suppose that you have a small craft business.

It is doing very well, and you are quickly selling all the products you can make both locally and online. Unfortunately, to fill your orders you are working ten-hour days, seven days a week.

You are getting very tired, and your friends and family are saying, "Who was that person who stopped through here for fifteen minutes? I know she (or he) looks familiar...".

3] Getting Some Help

That's the moment when you realize you are going to have to hire some help if you want to expand your business. For that matter, you need to hire some help if you are going to be able to protect your physical and mental health!

So your answer might be, "I want to keep selling great products." But, "I want to have time for myself, for family and for friends."

AWS has the tools you need to add a staff, to communicate with them, and even to increase your sales - but that's a steep learning curve. That is where AWS consulting comes in.

A good AWS consultant will be able to guide you through what AWS can do to help with your situation and how it can help you meet your goals.
