AW14 Beauty Essentials with Amy

By Winyeemichelle
2014 on Daisybutter is shaping up to be fashion-filled with plenty in between. This year I wanted to expand my content and become more interactive with the community that lurks around these parts, so I'll be introducing some of my best-loved ladies to fill up the gaps of the blog. While I play in Hong Kong for 10 days, let me introduce you to one of my favorite beauty girls, Amy from A Little Boat Sailing...

Hi everyone! My name is Amy from A Little Boat Sailing and I'm incredibly honoured to be featured over here on Michelle's blog whilst she is away on holiday! I'm going to share with you some of my favorite beauty items as we cross over from this glorious summer into one of my favorite seasons; autumn.

Guest editor Amy shares her autumnal beauty musts. Follow her blog A Little Boat Sailing here. As we're now in September I find it is time to start thinking about altering my make up choices a little bit, not that there are any written rules however I find the approach to autumn and indeed the following months to be some of my favourites where make up is concerned. Out go the simple flicks of liner and bright lips of summer and in arrive the deeper tones of neutrals for that stunning smoky eye, paired up with either a classic red lip or a toned down neutral, either way you're completely prepared.
Items that stand out to me that are perfect for this time of year consist of the NARS Fairy's Kiss Palette and the MAC lipstick in the shade 'Patisserie'. The purple hues of the NARS Palette are utterly beautiful and work well for this transitional period of the year as they can be used fairly lightly for daytime use or can be built up to create a gorgeous sultry look for an evening out.
When I've focused on my eyes more I tend to go quite simple with my choice of lip color in order to keep the look balanced. My favorite MAC Lipstick to date is Patisserie which is described as a creamy neutral pink. I do agree with this description although on me I have noticed slight tones of brown within this which overall tones things down and has ultimately made this my favorite nude to date.
Of course the cooler months can tend to leave my skin a little dehydrated therefore I try to ensure I use plenty of lip balm; my current favorite is the cult classic NUXE Reve De Miel Lip Balm. Whilst I'm an avid fan of make up there really is no better feeling (other than taking off your bra) than removing your make up when you get home. One of my favorite cleansers all year round is the Superdrug Vitamin E Hot Cloth Cleanser which is not just super affordable but also works a treat as that first initial cleanse.
Just before I go to bed I like to ensure my skin is fully moisturised therefore after I have used my serums and eye cream I always reach for the Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins which not only smells wonderful, it also works beautifully on my skin overnight.
This is just a snippet of some of my favorite transitional beauty items for the coming change in season. What are yours?
