My first visit to the Pima Air & Space Museum brought me face-to-face with a Shackleton for the first time.  This beast of an aircraft is uniquely English in design and the contra-rotating props add a powerful visual element.  First flown in 1951, these aircraft served the Royal Air Force for forty years before retirement.  The aircraft served in many roles throughout its long career, in 1971 twelve Shackletons were converted to Airborne Early Warning aircraft which would be their last role.  Nikon D7100 w/Tokina 10-17mm.
