Every once in a while, I try to level up my look from plain Jane (I’m lazy at times and I only apply lip balm, if anything at all) to something more exciting. And one way to instantly achieve that is by choosing bold lip colors! Let me show you three lipstick shades from Avon’s newest Ultra Color collection – Tangerine Tango, Hot Pink, and Lava Love.
So what is special with the Ultra Color line? For starter, the formula is infused with True Color Technology — it nourishes your lips and provides vibrant color. It also claims that what you see from the tube is what you get when applied on the lips. The tube is encased in a plastic packaging with a clear top to easily view the color.
Tangerine Tango, a reddish orange shade, is my fave among the bunch! I have an embarrassing story to share with this lipstick though! Earlier I applied petroleum jelly to my lips prior to applying this lippie; and then a coworker pointed out that there was something on my teeth. It turned out the lipstick stained my teeth! Probably the petroleum jelly made it easier for the lipstick to melt and transfer to my teeth. That or I applied way too much. Woops. Que horror!
Moving on, if you’re a regular reader of this blog, you’d know I’m not the biggest fan of the color pink. So, when I got this shade called Hot Pink, I wasn’t really expecting it to wow me. But guess what? I ended up liking it cos it’s not the pa-girly soft pink but a bold pink shade with blue undertone.
Lava Love is reportedly Anne Curtis’ favorite! Well, it comes as no surprise as she’s really known to dig red lips. This one is buildable so you can swipe one or more to achieve the redness that you like. It’s not bloody red so don’t be scared to try this!

Anyway, I honestly like how pigmented these lipsticks are! When Avon named this line “Ultra Color,” they really meant that! It’s also very soft and glides on my lips like butter — that kind of smoothness. One thing I notice, however, is that the color easily transfers on my mug whenever I take a drink. But even if that’s the case, staying power is still pretty impressive at four hours for me. And even when I brush my teeth after lunch time, I can still see a hint of color on my lips. One last thing, to avoid what happened to me using Tangerine Tango, I suggest doing these steps to keep lipstick off your teeth.
