Speaking at the inauguration of “Shilpa Abhimani 2023” Presidential Handicraft Awards ceremony at the BMICH Exhibition Centre in Colombo yesterday he emphasized the need to avoid a return to a period of fuel and fertilizer shortages and economic collapse.
Despite acknowledging challenges, the President asserted that the current path would swiftly strengthen the country’s economy but cautioned against incorrect economic decisions, expressing his commitment to avoiding populist choices that could compromise the nation’s future.
He also pledged on-going relief for those facing hardships and affirmed support for transforming the handicraft industry into a sector contributing to foreign exchange earnings.
