My camera and I were on a specific mission last Saturday morning, but it didn’t stop me from taking some photos enroute around town. Autumn seems to be the time that propels us to Guimarães; I have a stack of photos of the city from October last year with a similar sky. Packing a dense variety of architecture into a compact, pedestrian-friendly space, you can easily lose yourself in the spider web of streets, only to emerge with surprise into a square.
I’ve been to Guimarães five times (three of those were this year), and I’ve only begun to feel oriented to which way’s which. Lest that sounds like a negative, I assure you it’s actually quite positive — for photography, anyway — as there’s always something new around a corner.
