.Auto .Car, .Cars Get 1st Day Registrations at $60K Per Domain

Posted on the 13 January 2016 by Worldwide @thedomains

The 1st day of the Early Access Program (EAP) opened up yesterday for the new gTLD’s .Auto, .Car and .Cars with day 1 prices set at $59,049.99 for each domain name at Godaddy and there appears to have been some takers at that price.

NEXTEV USA, Inc registered the domain names on January 12th:

nextev.car
we.car

NEXTEV USA seems to be the US operations of a Planned Chinese car manufacture who is looking to produce cars to compete with Telsa.

NextEV intends to begin with an electric supercar, the most powerful out there – 1,000 hp and 0-62 mph (100 km/h) within 3 seconds.

Both domain names were registered at Godaddy where the 1st day EAP price for a registration is $59,049.99.

We can only assume that We Car might be the name of the first vehicle planned to be produced by NextEV.

Other registrations that show a creation date of January 12th, the first day of EAP include brand domains that could have been registered in Sunrise:

Lamborghini.car

Lamborghini.cars

Lamborghini.auto

Those domain names were registered at Hexonet.

Lamborghini is owned by Audi.

It appears Audi passed on its chance to register it’s .Auto, .Car and .Cars in Sunrise as well, as of publication those domains remain unregistered.

.Auto, .Car and .Cars are jointly owned by Uniregistry and XYZ.

Day 2 of EAP opens later today and the price at Godaddy drops to $34,049.99
