I am happy to have P. J. Thomas with us today to talk about writing, his books, and favorite authors.
Welcome to the Book Review!
1) I have read "The Falko Files" and "Born to Lose". Both of these books are crime fiction and both have a "hardboiled" or Noir tone to them. Did the old school detective novels and pulps influence you in any way?
It's hard to say where I picked up that style of writing. It surely isn't from reading as I'm sorry to admit, as a writer I haven't done much reading. It may be from movies as I'm a big fan of crime and detective films.
2) What other types of novels have you written?
You now have three of my books in your possession for review. "Fade From Blue" is a crime novel, " The Cloud and the Cat" is a children's book, and "My Name is Michael" is a book addressing children's human rights.
A book of shorts is my latest book and should be available in about six weeks. It's a book of four short stories.
3) What are you reading now?
I am currently not reading as my schedule has been very hectic, but I've enjoyed reading novels by John Grisham.
4) Do you have a book recommendation for us?
I would recommend anything by Hemmingway.
5) What are you working on now?
I'm working on a sequel to "The Falko Files".
6) Where can readers contact you?
[email protected]
7) Do you have a writing routine ( ex: do you write a set amount of words per day?) or do you have any of those author superstitions like wearing your lucky hat?
I write at home and have no set writing schedule. I can write for many hours for days and then just stop for periods of time. It's not due to writer's block, but perhaps to recharge my energy. During those time periods I'm constantly going over scenes in my head. It's like the main character is leading me to where he wants to go next. Then I'll start writing again.
8) Who are your top five favorite crime authors?
I enjoy reading novels by Ian Fleming, John Grisham, James Patterson, Joseph Wambaugh and Mario Puzo.
9) Where are your books available for purchase?
All my books are in paperback and available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other internet book retailers.
10) E books or physical books?
Physical books
11) Do you have a favorite quote you would like to share?
One Book sitting on a shelf is worth more than ten sitting in a drawer.
Thank you so much P.J. for stopping by today. I have enjoyed talking with you.
