Adventurer since she was 15 years old, former movie producer, globetrotter, mass media specialist, logistics specialist, teacher, and mom of two. While there are more successful storybook authors, nobody has better stories for every aspect of life (love, money, travels…). She has chased these stories all her life. Welcome Gisela! Your real name and pen name? I like to keep things real and honest, therefore I use my real name, Gisela Hausmann. I feel that if an author attempts to write a “naked/honest” book like I did, she should not hide behind a pen name. Please share some of the best memories of your childhood Driving around with my dad, just to see ‘things’. We liked to visit castles, museums, monasteries, and other points of interests. These were really some kind of educational trips but I liked to pretend that I was on an expedition exploring the world, like the old adventurers (Christopher Columbus or Marco Polo). About your education Originally I wanted to work in the movie industry, so I studied Arts of Film and Mass Media at the University of Vienna and graduated with a masters’ degree. Due to the emergence of lots of new media and communication platforms, I think it has become one of the most important fields of studies.

What career did you plan during your education days I really wanted to become a movie producer and win an Oscar. But even though I started out in the movie industry my career has developed in many different directions, all revolving around the adventure called “life”. I have also written 10 books, some in Europe and some in the United States. What languages you can speak and write? English and German. As a child I learned Russian and I can still read Russian writing a bit, like street signs or names... I also can greet people and order coffee in many other languages, French, Italian, Spanish… Both, being friendly and welcoming, as well as ordering coffee, are important to me. What is your biggest source of inspiration in life I believe that life is a gift, a present. It is our opportunity to so to speak “unwrap it” and make the best use of it. What hurts you most in this world? When pain gets inflicted on others – people, animals, and nature. Considering the fact that we know how big the planet is and how close our societies have come together, everybody should know by now that we cannot hurt somebody else without hurting ourselves.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced? How did you overcome it? In general I like big challenges; usually the rewards are great too. My biggest ‘difficult/negative’ challenge was my husband’s unexpected death, coupled with the fact that I had to raise our two children alone. I have found, the best way to overcome any kind of challenge (good or bad) is to focus on the task at hand and start doing the next important thing. If you had to live a day of your life as one of the living or dead personality, who would it be and why? It would have to be one of the Great Explorers: Roald Amundsen, Christopher Columbus,  James Cook, Marco Polo, Sir Francis Drake, or even Neil Armstrong.  I would love to ask them how it was and felt discovering a whole new world.

What is your favorite genre and why? Non-fiction in general. Though not every topic is the same attractive, (e.g. I don’t want to read a book about how to fix a car) I love to learn from smart people., who have actually done the things they write about. I read a lot of biographies .  It is always immensely interesting how people reach their goals. When did you start writing? What is the purpose of your writing? The purpose of my writing is to share the concepts of how to get what you want. Very often people think, that if you are not a movie star or a star athlete you can’t get what you want. So, I share my true and real stories… how I traveled to the places I wanted to see, how I got the jobs I wanted to work in, and how I even found the great love of my life. Which of your work has been published so far? Would you like to share a synopsis of your work? I have published two coffee-table books, six educational books, two inspirational motivational books, and an ebook about how to write best emails.

“Naked Determination, 41 Stories About Overcoming Fear” is by far my most important work because  it offers forty-one true stories telling readers what steps to take to achieve the success they are looking for. The forty-one steps or tricks are listed on sticky-notes – the book features pictures of the actual sticky-notes below each story. Readers can copy them and put the sticky-notes as reminder on their computer or mirror as daily encouragement. All of us have fears and all of us need to overcome to reach our goals. What are your forthcoming writings? Haha… I am superstitious and can’t tell. I believe that once an idea is “out there” sensitive people can kind of mentally grasp it. Thus, I don’t ever tell. What are your future plans? My dream project is a reality show to improve U.S. education. I am describing it in one of the stories in my book “Naked Determination”

What four top most things you take care of while writing a book? There are really only three things: 1) I write about what I know… 2) Tell the “naked” truth, so it can really help others 3) Be as funny as you can because that makes the knowledge fun to read and easy to adopt. Your dream destination on Earth? Too many to count but the next destination I’d like to visit would be Machu Picchu. It has been on the backburner for forty years. Your origin of birth and other countries you have visited/ stayed. Born in Vienna, Austria I have visited 48 countries in Europe and Asia, and the United States and Costa Rica.
