Widely known in Australia, singer-songwriter Brendan Maclean has yet to crossover to the American music scene. With a song like this, though, he could be on his way!

Let’s be honest, Maclean’s “Stupid” puts everything we’ve ever wanted to say to an ex into a wonderfully kitschy track.

Backed by an indie rock sound, the song kicks off with “if you weren’t so stupid, I could’ve loved you” and ends with a lighthearted buh-duh-duh-dum.

Under the guise of a chorus, Maclean hands out some stellar advice for the recently dumped: “and let’s not be friends, or else this will never end. Let’s not be friends for sure, for sure.”

Solo dance parties never looked so cool. Since its Feb. 10 release, Maclean’s video “Stupid” has received over 75,000 views on YouTube and landed on the front page of Buzzfeed.com.
