Everyone liked Blondie. Most people like Marina & the Diamonds. Not enough people know Teeth & Tongue and yet Melbourne’s Jess Cornelius embodies everything those women represented.
I featured Unfamiliar Skirts on the SXSW 2012 Playlist a couple of years ago but I’m not convinced much headway has been made since then in terms of notoriety. There’s a certain frustration with covering artists you know are a billion times better than everything you’re forced to listen to in day to day media, it’s hard to change the way of the world but there’s no harm in trying.
