A gorgeous summer wedding day at the beautiful Styal Lodge, lots of laughter, hugs, stunning venue styling, dapper groomsmen and I’m sure Katy and Dean will want me to mention those sleeves…
This really was the perfect wedding, and I have to be honest and say I knew it would be from the moment they booked!
Katy and Dean’s story of how they met is very similar to mine and Lee’s, so they obviously love an unusual ‘how we first met’ story…though not that unusual it seems!
Katy and Dean are camp friends of my wonderful in laws Keri and Tom (who also met at camp! You can check out their awesome wedding video here, pretty sure that’s the reason they booked…) so I sort of knew them from McNabb BBQ’s and following there amazing lives in Australia on Facebook too.
I know there would have been concerns from the Aussies about the British weather but they clearly bought a little bit of Aus sunshine with them to Cheshire!
Below is their wedding highlights video, if you’re not grinning along by the end of it I’ll be really surprised…
The morning started for me over with Katy, her Mum and Bridesmaid’s getting ready at Styal Lodge. They have a cute Bridal dressing room on site which is perfect for the Bridal party and their professional hair and make-up people.
Ruby Slippers and Vicky M Hair were on hand to make the girls look even more beautiful and Daniel Lloyd Photography joined me to capture some of the excitement before the ceremony.
Over at the boys hotel it was a simpler affair, the hardest part was needing help to get the bow ties looking straight!
They were soon heading over to Styal Lodge to greet their guests and ensure everything was looking perfect for Katy’s arrival.
One of the best moments during the wedding morning is the bride getting ready.
I love the attention to detail the Mum has, the bridesmaids getting all emotional seeing their sister or friend ready to get married and obviously the moment Dad walks in to the room to see his little girl looking amazing.
It’s always super hard not to get emotional myself at that part!
Styal Lodge looked amazing with the floral hoop at the top of the aisle and the aisle itself was lined with lanterns and stunning pink and blue flowers spilling out from them. JN Flowers did an amazing job!
Katy was soon making her way down the aisle with her Dad as Dean looked on with watery eyes.
They even read their own personal vows to each other which got a few laughs and happy tears from both of them and their friends and family watching on.
They were soon announced as husband and wife as guests lined up outside ready to shower them in confetti.
First it was Dean’s turn to stamp on the glass to cheers of “mazel tov” before their guests enjoyed covering them in handfuls of confetti (how awesome does that look on the video too? Soooo much confetti!).
Guests mingled and introductions were made between the Aussie and English families as Daniel swiftly made his way through the formal group shots.
We then had a few minutes to get some lovely couple shots as guests were ushered in to the lodge ready for the wedding breakfast.
But, this was Katy and Dean.
There wasn’t going to be any normal entrance.
May as well do it Aussie style!
The bridal party were all announced in in pairs to dance their way to the top table (another Aussie tradition, instead of it being parents at the top table it was Groomsmen and Bridesmaids).
Speeches were dispersed throughout the delicious wedding breakfast (created and served by the incredible Top Table) and it was lovely to hear such personal stories and words of advice and encouragement for the newlyweds.
It was then time to cut the wedding cake ready for the evening and then head out to enjoy that rare British sunshine!
Guests were soon back inside to enjoy watching Katy and her Dad enjoy a dance and show off their best moves before Katy and Dean took to the floor as husband and wife.
They’d hinted at another Jewish tradition before the day so I hung around a little while longer to catch them enjoying a Horah dance (where guests dance in a circle and the couple get lifted up on chairs).
Katy may have screamed a little as they bounced her up and down…
Seriously guys, what an amazing day from beginning to end.
It was an absolute pleasure to film and I’m sure they’ll be a lot of my future couples taking inspiration from your day as they did with Keri and Tom’s. So thank you for choosing me
