Aussie Bookmaker Sledge ECC Ahead of World Cup

An Australian bookmaker has started a hilarious marketing campaign targeted at the English Cricket Team ahead of the Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The ads claim to be looking for a lost “pair of balls” with two cricket balls on display, thought to be a direct reference to England’s shaky form as they prepare to face Australia on Saturday morning (03:30 GMT).

Using the hashtag #MissingBalls the campaign has taken Twitter by storm. The betting firm even took to the skies with the marketing campaign and a large truck appeared with the #MissingBalls poster emblazoned on the back when the English players walked from their hotel rooms to their team bus prior to training in Melbourne.

England fans have reacted to the Tweet by pointing out it could be a costly PR stunt if things go wrong in Australia’s opening match. Although England haven’t looked all that convincing, the new-look squad is certainly capable of pulling off a win and a currently priced 2/1 at most bookmakers. Australia are priced 4/11.
