A little while back, I started the Spellbound series, by Nikki Jefford and fell in love with her writing style. This month I had the opportunity to read a new book by Nikki Jefford and I jumped at the chance.

If there is one thing eighteen-year-old Aurora Sky wants, it’s to get off the iceberg she calls home. Being kissed before she graduates wouldn’t hurt either.

Then a near-fatal car wreck changes everything. Government agents step in and save Aurora’s life in exchange for her services as a vampire hunter. In Alaska. Basically she’s a glorified chew toy. All thanks to her rare blood type, which sends a vampire into temporary paralysis right before she has to finish the job… by hand.

Now Aurora’s only friends are groupies of the undead and the only boy she can think about may very well be a vampire. And if he’s a vampire, she’ll have to kill him.

There is SO MUCH I want to say about this book, trying to decided where to start is tricky… but I will start with Aurora. I think you can look at the kind of books I give high marks to and it’s pretty obvious I like characters with a good sense of humour. I loved Auroras inner voice and how strong her personality came through. She clearly has been through a rough patch, almost dying and finding about that the things that go bump in the night are not just scary stories, but she still has some sarcastic witty comments that I adored. Okay, I also love the way the story moves, I was able to get to know the characters and get a feel for situations going on, but it felt the story was constantly moving. The interaction between Aurora and Fane( SWOOOOON) is just so angsty. I like his attitude and I love the chemistry created when the two of them are together. The background Nikki Jefford creates makes vampires seem more tangible, the history of how they came to be feels possible in our world. I am eagerly awaiting book two in the series, so I sure hope it is released quickly. YOU NEED TO START THIS BOOK, like yesterday. Nikki Jefford breaks all the vampire stereotypes. Aurora Sky, a government engineered vampire hunters, is a sarcastic, strong, and sexy force to be reckoned with. Aurora Sky Vampire Hunter is going to grab your attention and not let go.
THIS BOOK IS NOT YOUNG ADULT, ITS NEW ADULT. There are some parts not for younger readers, so keep that in mind. The author recommends it for 18 and older.
