National Aviation Day
-- This holiday was created by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who issued a presidential proclamation in 1939, designating the anniversary of Orville Wright's birthday - to celebrate the history and development of aviation. Orville Wright piloted the Wright Flyer, and made the first flight for 12 seconds and 120 feet around the site of the Wright Brothers National Memorial on December 17, 1903.
