Connecticut’s Atheists have shared new single ‘Hallways’ ahead of the release of new album ‘Trying’ on 18 April (order via Bandcamp now). The lo-fi, almost ambient ballad shares the same kind of emotional spirit as Mount Eerie or Loney, Dear and combines this with the passion of I Like Trains.
It has touching lyrics (‘Waltzing waiting, the tides are changing. Inscrutable thoughts are becoming pure’) and finishes with poignantly powerful, repeated whispers of ‘We should have known’.
