The affordable Windows Phone Nokia Lumia 505
Nokia has recently announced a new low-end Windows Phone for the Mexican market, specifically Telcel network of Mexico. The new device dubbed as the Nokia Lumia 505 is essentially a sister device of the older Lumia 510. The Lumia 505 is powered by Windows Phone 7.8, sports an 800 MHz processor, equipped with an amazing 8MP main camera and 3.7-inch AMOLED screen with Corning Gorilla Glass screen protection. According to details at GSMarena, the device was first announced in December 2012 and was available for the Mexican market in January 2013. They is no news when the device will reach our stores (Malaysia) or whether it is available for our market at all.
The greatest drawback of the device is perhaps the limited 4GB of onboard storage and no external microSD card slot for further expansion, however, despite the lack of external storage, users will still be able to use Microsoft’s SkyDrive features and get a further 7GB free storage. Another downside that must be revealed is the inability of the pre-installed Windows Phone 7.8 to be upgraded to Windows Phone 8 due to some hardware limitations, according to wpcentral tech website the single core CPU used in the Lumia 505 may also contribute to this problem. But it is not all drawbacks - The 1300 mAh battery, in the Lumia 505 is reported to be able to provide users about 7.2 hours talk time in 3G mode, 600 hours maximum standby time in 3G mode and 36 hours maximum playback time of music.
The main highlights of the Nokia Lumia 505 is of course the price which is very affordable at RM407 [expected price in India is about Rs. 6999 which is equivalent to US$132 or RM407], the 8MP main camera is another important feature and of course the strikingly bold and sexy design – available in three solid colours, red, pink and black, and last but not least, the 3.7-inch AMOLED with Corning Gorilla Glass display will provide a sturdy, crystal clear display a user can enjoy for many years to come.
