ASUS ZenFones have gained good popularity in India. The ZenFone Max range of smartphones have especially found much favour thanks to their affordable pricing and long-lasting battery.
Today, on 7 th February, 2017, ASUS launched yet another Max smartphone. This is Zenfone 3S Max. As can be expected from a Max device, it comes with a mighty battery for max phone usage without charging.
So let's check out the highlights of ASUS Zenfone 3S Max:
Battery:
Battery is the highlight of every ZenFone Max device. Zenfone 3S Max too has a big 5000 mAh battery which is capable of delivering upto 38 days of 4G standby time, 28 hours of 3G talktime, and 25 hours of Web browsing. That's quite a lot, isn't it? The battery capacity of this device is sufficient to enjoy your phone to the fullest all through the day, without having to worry about the battery draining out too soon.
To make the battery last even longer, 3S Max has five power modes that users can select to optimize the battery performance. These modes are Performance mode, Normal mode, Power saving mode, Super saving mode and Customized mode. Customized mode is my favoruite as it lets me adjust the battery settings as per my requirements.
Other Key Specifications:
A big battery alone does not make a good phone. It has to have the hardware that can ensure swift and stable performance. 3S Max is equipped with a 1.5GHz Octa-core 64-bit processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory. The internal storage is expandable up to 2TB. The processor may not be the best, but the device has ample storage space and RAM to store numerous apps and manage multi-tasking efficiently. The smartphone has Android 7.0 Nougat and ZenUI 3.0. It is a dualSIM smartphone with CAT 4G and VoLTE support. The device has a built-in Bluelight Filter to protect eyes.
Camera:
The description of a ZenFone cannot be complete without a mention of its PixelMaster Camera and various camera modes. Well, this mid-range smartphone comes equipped with 13MP PixelMaster 3.0 rear camera with Phase Detection Autofocus feature and an ƒ/2.0 aperture. The camera is aided by dual LED real-tone flash for capturing better photographs in low-light conditions. The primary camera is capable of shooting videos in Full-HD resolution.
The front camera is 8MP and supports an 85 degree wide field of view. The front camera modes include Beautification mode, HDR mode and Low-light mode.
The rear camera supports more modes. These include the Super Resolution Mode that can deliver an image of 52MP. The Low-light Mode Increases the light sensitivity by 400% to get better shots in low light. The Backlight (Super HDR) mode helps in getting better pictures through daytime shadows. The rear camera also has the Beautification mode for better selfies through rear camera.
Appearance:
Zenfone 3S Max has a 5.2 inch high-definition display and 2.5D contoured glass giving it a more premium feel. It has a 75% screen to body ratio. The device has a premium crafted metal, aluminum-alloy body with a subtle matte finish and rounded edges. Zenfone 3S Max weighs 175 grams and is 8.85mm thick at its sides. It is available in Black and Gold colours. I can't say that the design is very stunning or fresh, but it does make the device comfortable to hold.
Fingerprint Sensor:
The fingerprint sensor of ASUS Zenfone 3S Max is conveniently placed at the front, under the display. It can unlock the device in less than a second and can register up to five separate fingerprints. It also provides 360 degree fingerprint recognition.
User Interface:
Zenfone 3S Max has Android 7.0 Nougat and ZenUI 3.0. The features include various personalization options like themes, icons etc., ZenMotion Touch Gestures and Multi-window mode which is great for multi-tasking. Besides these, the various Power management and audio management modes help in letting the users fine-tune their device as per their convenience. The phone manager and auto-start manager helps users in keeping the device optimized too.
Availability and price of ZenFone 3S Max:
Zenfone 3S Max will be available at Flipkart and offline channels at the price of Rs. 14,999. At this price, the device brings decent set of specifications and excellent battery life. However, the competition is very tough at this price point. 3S Max does have a pretty impressive and long lasting battery. It will appear attractive to fans of ZenFones like me. But will it be able to manage to break through the tough competition with the might of its big battery? It will be interesting to see.
