The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics has given the Federal Government a 15 days maximum ultimatum to solve all impending consensus between them. It was then followed with a threat to neglect work if the agreement are not met within the stipulated time frame.

ASUP President, Anderson Ezeibe said to the press – after the union’s 97th National Executive Committee meeting at the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State – that the FG should swiftly correct the inequities that characterised the salary payment of members through Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System in February.

“Based on these which epitomise neglect, disregard and disrespect to the sector; coupled with the insincerity of the government in respecting signed agreements entered into with our union, the union is hereby issuing a 15-day ultimatum to resolve these pending issues affecting the sector or face industrial action by our union without the benefit of any other warning,” Ezeibe said.

In furtherance, he condemned the unjust victimisation of ASUP officials who partook in the legal struggle for justice which led to the retrenchment and suspension of seven and two lecturers respectively.
