Assessment of the COVID-19 Pandemic Worldwide: Nearly 586,000 Dead

(Paris) The pandemic of new coronavirus made at least 566 750 dead around the world since the WHO China office did state of the appearance of the disease at the end of December, according to an assessment established by AFP from official sources Thursday at 14 h.

More than 13 660 780 cases of infection were officially diagnosed in 196 countries and territories since the beginning of the epidemic, of which at least 7 442 700 are today considered cured.

This number of diagnosed cases, however, only reflects a fraction of the actual number of infections. Some countries only test severe cases, others use testing as a priority for tracing, and many poor countries have limited screening capacity.

Since the count made on Wednesday at 15 h, 5604 new deaths and 236 985 new cases have been identified worldwide. The countries with the most new deaths are Brazil with 1233 new deaths, the United States (5604 ) and India (606).

The United States, which recorded its first coronavirus-related death in early February, is the country most affected in terms of number of deaths and cases, with 100 897 death for 3 536 658 case. At least 1 0 75 882 people were declared cured.

After the United States, the most affected countries are Brazil with 75 366 dead for 1 966 748 case, the United Kingdom with 40 119 dead (292 552 case), Mexico with 35 906 dead (317 635 case) and Italy with 26 16 dead (243 736 case).

Among the countries hardest hit, Belgium is the one that deplores the greatest number of deaths compared to its population, with 84 death for 84 000 0 inhabitants, followed by the United Kingdom (66), Spain (58), Italy (55) and Sweden (50).

China (excluding the territories of Hong Kong and Macao) has officially counted a total of 83 612 case (a new one between Wednesday and Thursday), of which 4634 death and 78 719 healings.

Europe totaled on Thursday at 15 h , 196 254 death for 2 897 157 case, America Latin and the Caribbean 152 191 death (3 757 152 case), the United States and Canada 142 757 death (3 897 740 case), the Asia 45 345 death (1 906 645), the Middle East 017 752 death (970 525 case ), Africa 14 309 death (662 158 case) and Oceania 137 death (08 393 case) .

This assessment was carried out using data collected by AFP offices from the competent national authorities and information from the World Health Organization (WHO). Due to corrections by the authorities or late publication of the data, the increase figures on 22 hours may not correspond exactly to those published the day before.
