Kiribathgoda Police received a complaint from a third-year Technology Faculty student from the Kelaniya University that he was assaulted by a group of four, including three third-year Arts Faculty students of the same University, over a dispute of electing officers for students’ unions in the University.
The dispute had occurred on March 18. The student, who complained to the Police, has also given the names of the students who assaulted him. He had told the Police that the outsider in the group was unknown to him.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has commenced an investigation into the incident, and the Mahara Court has been briefed on it.
