For the first time in Sri Lanka, the aspirations of the leader and the people have become one, National People’s Power (NPP) Kandy District candidate Jagath Manuwarna stated.
He made these remarks while addressing a public gathering held in Anuragama, Kandy recently.
He also expressed the following views:
“Historically, so-called experienced leaders enriched themselves while the populace endured hardship. We are prepared to unite people of all backgrounds, transcending race and party affiliations, to create the nation we all aspire to. The National People’s Power has nominated a President, and with a majority in the Parliamentary Election, we will form a robust Government. Victory is within our grasp, and this success will launch us on a path to transform the nation’s future.
“The political landscape of this country shifted significantly in the last Presidential Election. Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s election as President marks a departure from the harsh political culture that prevailed for 76 years. The upcoming General Election is pivotal for our future. Gotabaya Rajapaksa assumed the presidency with 6.9 million votes and secured a two-thirds majority in Parliament, yet he failed to meet the public’s expectations. The President and Government, who betrayed the people’s aspirations, were ousted by the public. This struggle demonstrated the power of the citizenry. Remarkably, this is the first time in Sri Lanka’s history that a president has been removed through a popular movement”.
