AAF Co-host
This week I swapped with Miranda from Rahab to Riches. She enjoys writing and started blogging less than a year ago. She is married and has 5 children. You can find information on parenting, biblical inspirational posts, so much more. Don’t forget to visit her blog after you check out the questions that she asked me to answer.

  1. I love your blog design. Did you do it yourself or hire someone?

My husband designed the logo for my blog and my Facebook fan page. I created the button for my site. I am thankful that my husband was able to design something for it. He did an awesome job!!!! Thank you honey.

  1. I see that you wrote recently about drug and alcohol treatment. Do you have any past experiences related to this?

I am thankful that I haven’t had any first hand experience with this issue. I have seen addiction destroy families and I wanted to share these valuable tips with my readers.

  1. How long have you been blogging and how do you schedule it into your day?
I have been blogging for about 4 years. I typically blog in the afternoon or in the evening time.
  1. What are your thoughts on children and social media?
I think children should be allowed to use social media with close parental supervision. I know that Facebook doesn’t allow children to have accounts until they are 13 years old even if they have parental supervision. You want them to learn how to use it properly. I know a bunch of teenagers who tend to overshare details of their lives. I know that snapchat is popular with the tweens and teenagers and I have heard about some of the stuff that they share.
  1. Do you still live in the same area where you grew up or have you moved?
I grew up in Lubbock, Texas and moved to the Fort Worth area shortly after I turned 16. In 1997, I moved to North Carolina and lived there until 2005. I decided it was time to move back home after my divorce. I now live just West of the Fort Worth area.
  1. Where do you find inspiration for blogging?

I gather my inspiration for my children, past experiences, and I am sometimes given blog topics to write about. I love that I have a ton of different ways to get post ideas. I never seem to run dry on ideas. ;)

  1. What is one piece of advice you would give to someone about to have their first child?
To cherish and enjoy the time with their newborn. It will go by very quickly.
  1. Would you ever consider having a home birth? Why or why not?
I personally wouldn’t consider having a home birth. I just don’t feel comfortable birthing a child in my home. I live over 30 minutes from a hospital that I trust to deliver my child. With my third child, I was a bit disappointed because my son turned breech during the last few days of my pregnancy. I had to have a c-section with him. I opted to have my tubes tied while my doctor was performing the c-section.
  1. I see that you wrote a couple articles about miscarriage. Have you ever had one? (If you did and this is too emotional for you, you don’t have to answer, I will give you another question)

I haven’t had a miscarriage but I watched a bunch of women in my birth club on Baby center finding out that they were miscarrying. I can’t image going through one.

  1. In your opinion, what is the most important thing for a child to have a good childhood, besides for love?

Children don’t need fancy clothes, house, or a bunch of stuff to realize that they are loved. I think it is better for children to see that their parents stick together through thick and thin and to be shown what a healthy relationship is all about. Also, it is important to keep the lines of communication open with your children. You would rather for them to learn things from you rather than from their peers.
