AAF Co-host

This week I swapped with Alisha from Coilylocks. She is married and is a mother to two beautiful girls. Alisha enjoys writing about natural hair tips, nail polish, wine, and so much more. I noticed that she has participated in a branding tour, if you need help with branding your blog/business, she probably can help you figure it out.

  1. What has been the most fulfilling part about being a parent?

The most fulfilling part of being a parent is knowing that my children love me even if they get upset with me from time to time. They are a gift and I try each and every day to cherish it. I still can’t believe that I was picked to be their mom. I have three wonderful children.

  1. What has been the hardest part about being a parent?

The hardest part for me is the discipline. I don’t have the best follow through and I am constantly struggling with it. Also, suffering with chronic pain has added additional problems and contributed to my own parenting woes.

  1. At what age will you let your children go on dates without supervision?

It kinda depends on their maturity level and how they handle themselves. We have been a bit more cautious with my daughter since she is deaf. Since she didn’t hear until she was 14 years old, she still has a bit of growing up to do. She is 18 now and technically I can’t stop her from dating; however, I can hope that I have taught her well enough to handle grown up situations. My oldest son is 14 and hasn’t shown much interest in girls yet. I am sure it is a matter of time. ;) My youngest is 3 and has a long way to go.

  1. What inspired you to start blogging?

I wanted to help other parents make informed decisions about their family and children.

  1. If you could go back and give your teenage self advice, what would it be?

If I could change once thing in my past, I would tell myself to continue fighting for my medical care on my back. Of course, I never knew that I would have the amount of problems that I do today if I did anything differently. Over the last several years, I have learned to keep fighting for answers on my back problems and chronic pain.

  1. If you had an all expense paid trip for you and your immediate family, where would you go and why?

I would love to take the kids on a cruise. I have heard that Disney is fun but that their ships are getting a bit older. I want to go to the Bahamas.

  1. If you weren’t blogging, what would be your dream job?

I always wanted to be a system administrator. However, I haven’t been in the IT industry in years so I lack the hands on experience. I enjoy writing and sharing my knowledge. I had no clue that I would actually be good at it when I first started.

  1. What’s your best tip for someone wanting to start couponing?

I got into it after I saw some of my friends scoring some amazing deals on stuff that you buy everyday. I started following a blog called Couponaholic.net and Drugstore Divas. These were so much easier to learn from than a few of the other couponing sites. I started picking up the paper and printing coupons. I even learned how to stack my own deals. It was nice getting stuff cheap.

  1. What’s your favorite holiday of the year?

I have always loved Christmas. This past year, I struggled to get into the Christmas spirit due to depression. I am crossing my fingers that I don’t have to deal with depression next Christmas.

  1. Do you have any remedies that have been passed down over the years for dealing with colds?

My grandmother always used Vick’s vapor rub on my chest when I was growing up. She also used to put something type of menthol stuff in the warm humidifier but I haven’t tried that with my kids. I do use Vicks on youngest, when he is coughing I will rub it on his feet and put socks on.

My mom also used to make me soak my ingrown toes/fingernails in epsom salt water. It always seemed to help and I need to do that next time I get an ingrown toe nail.
